From article:
Democratic Presidential candidate Andrew Yang, has definitively broke with the Democratic Party as he became one of the founders of a new third party, “Forward”.
The party was founded by both former Republican and Democratic officials.
Dozens of former Republican and Democratic officials announced on Wednesday a new national political third party to appeal to millions of voters they say are dismayed with what they see as America’s dysfunctional two-party system.
The new party, called Forward and whose creation was first reported by Reuters, will initially be co-chaired by former Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang and Christine Todd Whitman, the former Republican governor of New Jersey. They hope the party will become a viable alternative to the Republican and Democratic parties that dominate U.S. politics, founding members told Reuters.
Analysts say the Green Party’s Ralph Nader siphoned off enough votes from Democratic presidential candidate Al Gore in 2000 to help Republican George W. Bush win the White House.
Public reaction on Twitter was swift. Many Democrats on the social media platform expressed fear that the new party will siphon more votes away from Democrats, rather than Republicans, and end up helping Republicans in close races
This group will adopt republican talking points to try and siphon off centrist Trump voters. I highly doubt it will be used to attract disaffected democrats off the DNC plantation. Hopefully I'm incorrect.
Good and interesting points. I just can't shake the feeling that this is a clown-op, so I'm trying to figure out who benefits and why. So, a progressive center-left faction is breaking away from the DNC? Is it because the stench of DNC policies have gotten too bad to propagandize out of? A Yang/Gabbard ticket, maybe? It's confusing to me, for now. I've never been Left, though. 🤔
Thanks for the BTS of the democrat party. Very enlightening.
If Yang decided to do this of his own volition, and it's not part of some high-level op, he put a huge target on his back. He'll be the democrat Ross Perot, a renegade billionaire that bucks the party establishment. It's very out of character for the DNC, though. I can understand Independent Bernie running under the Dem banner, but Dem Yang running under the Independent banner leaves me scratching my head about what he's really up to, and who he's serving.
