Does not need to be Q related.
the most apolitical topic-dogs. I have always owned English Shepherd dogs (farm collies) since 1978.They are my heart, my guardians, helpers on the homestead, protecting ducks and chickens and small things that were my sons pets.Dont let a critter come around though, they would be attacked. They are also amazing watch dogs and guard dogs, would die for you if a person or animal attacked you. They are 100% heart and dog. I am 72 though, and I would not be strong enough to give them the life they need, and, the energy it takes to balance a dog that was bred to be aggressive (they are an American land race breed that were used to drive stock, not herd, and to protect property and livestock). You dont breed the bravery out of a dog meant to handle and control 830 lb cows, get then into a truck, and refuse to accept no for an answer. So, I got a pup that is 100% bird dog, a gun dog, a hunter. Smart, defiant, goofy, non aggresive or reactive, now don't laugh, its a Field Springer Spaniel Poodle cross. I am not used to hunting dogs, people keep telling me they are smart, but i say its the devil that makes them smart. Good energy, okay recall at 41/2 months. Almost pee trained as long as he is confined in my room all night and times during they day , but most times will crap on the floor if he goes out with my old sheppie in the morning, will wait to come in and do it. Also he is a coward and I am used to those sheppies flanking you and not let anything near you. I went out with the pup and the goats were right behind me, and he flew off way ahead of me, while she would make sure they kept their distance from me (she hates them, lol). He is hyper af, bounces off the wall. People who own hunters and gun dogs, please, tell me it will stop.
