I have quite a bit of paper currency on hand and can attest, there are absolutely none newer than 2017! Talking about green money here, not coins.
Can someone provide the reason for this? I believe I read a commenter on the thread said Trump passed something and could be the reason behind this. I’m very curious as to what all this means. Anyone else noticing this with their money?
I’m pretty sure they’re still printing money. The Federal Reserve website details what bills were ordered printed for 2022. I think another poster was correct in saying the date reflects the last date currency was redesigned.
Makes sense too. I will be keeping my eye out for new ones. I wonder how they distribute the new? Do banks have to order them when they run low? This is all something I never really thought about.
Yes, banks order currency regularly - weekly I think. I imagine the Fed fills some portion of those orders with new currency to get it into circulation.
