I was 12 when the internet really made it into the home. Unsupervised usage and teen hormones coupled with the destruction of morals was just a perfect storm I suppose. I was also in Foster care, so it was one of many bad habits I gained while trying to figure life out.
There are many reasons I suppose, different for everyone.
Its like asking why many people drink alcohol, I guess availability on every corner coupled with our society that makes it a right of passage makes these things seem harmless
