I have NO idea what all is being "taught" in schools today except to know that it's probably very bad. But "peer pressure" isn't taught, it is innate to the human condition. It's more of a drive... an urge... than anything that can be taught.
Put a kid in any social situation and he/she will want to fit in and be accepted. We are a social species, so it's ingrained into our DNA. Kids who think for themselves and don't buy into the same music, fashion, and doodads that their peers find so fascinating will soon find themselves ignored or ostracized. For a young person, that is the kiss of death. Kids at that age don't realize that there is a vibrant world outside their own limited reality of school and family.
That's also why grooming is so effective for young people at that age... they want so desperately to be accepted that they will literally do anything to get that acceptance. Even if that "acceptance" is from a trusted, but evil, adult in their world.

Exactly! I was the same way, a born contrarion.
Edit: Actually the spelling is CONTRARIAN.
