Of course, "the book is way better." The movie is OK - Patriot Games was the best movie adaptation of Clancy books (granted, the changed ending is impossibly dippy but they needed the Big Movie Climax)(I found the movie adaptation of RO relatively poor enough that it's been way too long for me to compare plot points). Of course, the book doesn't have Connery, who can make things like "Finding Forrester" worth watching.
The 5 of you one here that haven't read his stuff, it's well worth it for how he goes into how military stuff works - in this case plenty of stuff about sub warfare obviously. So this part makes the reading pretty fascinating since it's not just about the plot.
Seriously, I hadn't thought about this one in awhile - a friend recommended that movie and I was like no way. I was shocked how good it is, but thinking back, holy cow how BAD it probably would have been with almost anyone else.
Now speaking of GVS... "To Die For" is my favorite of his. Kidman was already ascending the irony scale she arrived at fully with EWS, LOL.
