Edit: Would recommend continuing to pay STATE taxes, as the States have legitimate authority to do so.

No, they do not have authority, neither legitimate nor illegitimate, to take the product of a man’s work.
I don't think property tax should be paid either. We are renting property we own from the local and state governments.
And for what?
bare in mind that most states do not require income tax if you are exempt from federal income tax. every penny you pay when you are buying things ends up in the state coffers, so don't feel bad about it.
I'm with you. My state said if you don't owe fed then you don't owe state.
