In fact maple syrup wasn’t in our stores until the last five years. Most people I know still use syrups like log cabin and that’s just as bad. Many of my old family recipes have karo syrup as an ingredient. The family peanut brittle was always cooked with karo. I haven’t cooked it in years. When I cook again I’ll use maple or honey.
