CRAZY , it happened to ME !
My plans for an addition we're denied because of too much sunlight, they made me take out the window on my plans before they would approve. I had sliding doors on one wall ( bedroom) and a window on another wall. The city ( San Diego ) said , that it was to much Sunlight , I thought I was hearing my Arcitect wrong and kept asking him to repeat the reason for denial! ! He took the window off the plans, once the city signs off on the finished bedroom I'll have to go back in and put the window in without them knowing... CRAZY !
What?! That is crazy. Who determines how much is too much and on what do they base that? Disgraceful. It's none of their business. That's maddening. I wonder what is really behind this. Is it just a control thing, or could it be a climate thing? Too much sunlight = more air conditioning = bad for the environment. Smh.
They are nuts I'm building one bedroom , but they made my architect do pages and pages and pages of plans , he had to draw every room of my house , upstairs , downstairs every faucet,, sink, every bush ,plant, flower and brick out in my yard! I couldn't believe it I haven't built anything for 15 years and they have really gone off the charts With there crazy rules! But Sunlight I really couldn't believe it , The window they made me delete faces the east side of my house , morning sun only , the west side , The Ocean side is where all the sun is , it goes high noon and than it's all day in your face sun until it sets , so that room won't need as much air conditioning so who knows? but they are nuts .. they let me keep my Sliding doors and than I added a skylight after they said no window , which actually will bring in more sunlight than the window and they approved that ,, so it just goes to show you they are nuts and don't know what the hell they are doing ,,, the whole sunlight law just happened recently my Arcitect said so they got confused and allowed the skylight .., idiots !
Wow. I would have been tempted to fight them on Constitutional grounds. Who the heck has the right to tell someone they can or can't have a window? It's just bizarre and these control freaks are out of control. But I understand. You want to get this done. I am glad they slipped up and let you have the skylight, lol.
