I watched a documentary a few years ago.. no I dont know the title.. but it had some reference to the Catholic church coming in and "converting" Mexico. The thing is, they just took what parts kept them in with the priest and kept in many of their previous beliefs and made their own blended belief system.

Not sure how they flow now. I just thought it was interesting. People can pay a lot of lip service and go through the motions without it ever saving their soul.
