Oh bullshit. Queen Elizabeth (who in reality had a few male lovers in her life) was called the Virgin Queen because she never was never officially married. She quite rightly feared for her life and her throne, and knew that a marriage in the time of the struggles between the Protestant and Catholic religions could have threatened her reign with one or the other factions.
Having seen the intrigues and betrayals of others throughout her life, she very carefully navigated the monarchy, and quite successfully until her natural death. Along the way she was forced to have Mary, Queen of Scots executed, not out of any animus toward her, but because her very existence threatened Elizabeth's throne.

Correct.
