It's a reasonable hypothesis! I'm not so sure I'd label them as "sociopaths" though, more like unsocialized misfits. That's my general observation anyway. By virtue of avoiding social interaction, they find themselves being and feeling awkward in the social situations we all inevitably experience. They just "shut down" as it were.
Now, in fairness to the kids, what the cabal has generated in terms of normalized attitudes and behaviors (cultural norms) these past 25 years or so, is nothing short of insanity. So in one sense, these kids unconsciously see and reject what the majority has adapted themselves to accept as "normal/popular".
I see this in full clarity with my 20-year old nephew. He's a smart kid but can't find his way in this present world as he experiences the insanity all around him. He wants to be part of the popular crowd but regularly finds so many aspects of their behaviors and attitudes distasteful. He's trying to forge his own way forward but it isn't easy without peer support at his age. He's attending college, against his uncle's advice, but his experience is so far removed from what I experienced back in the 80's that I can't even describe it. The Covid madness is certainly a big part of that too. And yes, he's completely addicted to his smart phone and video games.
Sometimes I think a giant EMP, completely wiping our electrical grid and destroying all computer-based tech as we know it may be the only solution. I can't even convince my mother to get rid of her smart phone (she's also addicted to it as a simple and rapid communication device though - texting).
