I firmly believe that "lawyers" are British nobles.
There is a distinction between "lawyers" (educated in law) and "attorney" (one who attorns).
To attorn is mostly undefined, but it is typically used for the "legal transfer of property of a vassal to a lord."
Attorneys are thieves. Legal is not lawful.
