When I first saw the message on Epoch Times I immediately did the update for my iPhone. Today I was going to update wife's phone and iPad but then got to thinking. How much to I trust the Feds now? What if the update was meant to thwart White Hat ability to activate EBS? So, before I do anything else, I'd like to hear from tech fags who have looked into the situation. If someone posted similar message elsewhere, I'm sorry for duplicating but thought I should throw this out before too many others update their phone software. If this is a scam, can I fix the hack?

I just consider our phone security to be lost territory at this point. They won that battle a long time ago. We seem to be fighting on different fronts.
Came to say something similar, but you said it much more eloquently than I would have.
There is only one mostly non spying phone you can get. A 100% degoogled android with very carefully curated open source apps only. Even then, your carrier still knows and shares a lot about you.
Apple updates are a closed world, there is no way to know what it will, or will not, do.
Wise move. (First create fear.... then propose a solution.... Is the classic government approved way to get "compliance!!") Perhaps the reason is benevolent? HAHAHAHAHAHA. Let's wait and see.
As I explained in my post yesterday, I think it may be an attempt to circumvent any EBS from the white hats when the media blackout occurs. To be honest, I trust hackers more than I trust the government or these tech companies.
I’ll update my company phone and pad, but I’ll leave my personal ones as is….
...when the SHTF happens, you'll know, won't need a phone to alert u
