staying within the specific topic of makeup -
The word 'black' covers all sorts of skin tones, so is obviously a definition by 'whites'.
That said, some light-skinned 'blacks' can wear certain makeup easily.
Rather than to EXPAND their products to serve dark complexions, the plot was hatched to create a 'black' market for makeup for 'blacks'...keeping the seperatist fires glowing while also creating an icon in Madame Walker. There's that name again. (George Walker Blush?)
This is still done to this day.....maybe you could try to explain how menthol cigarettes are smoked because of skin color rather than culture.
I had discussions with a very smart person from Africa, who was a rastafarian and believed that whites are evil due to their race. He used a similar argument that was hard to counter.
The idea that this is also racism seemed to escape him.
I developed a saying as a result.
'Bound to blood and soil, one is not yet born."
This is not meant as practical advice for today's generation of materialists, but as an ideal to consider and meditate on.
