It is unfortunate for your friend but nothing or nobody in life has a guarantee of anything..that does not negate the fact that the loan was taken and it is an obligation to be paid back and not the responsibility of ANYONE else to cover it. Life has a way of crapping in peoples cheerios all the time...If she had a lucrative career why didnt she pay it off then??I paid mine and helped my daughters pay theirs.Why should we be responsible for someone else's?
