The Chasm

This underground, dark Hidden place has no exit Said no to the mark And I mean that I meant it I've swum with the sharks Seen things so demented I've dreamed of the stars And still not expected

The beat of a heart That I had contested A wandering spark I hadn't respected My larder is sparse The cupboards look wretched But blessings embark And help as intended;

This honesty barks It's so unexpected Like unsharpened darts I'm always deflected I fight with a farce And then I reject it But Christ isn't charmed By evil's deception

I've thought way too hard I wound up dejected God left me a scar Until I'm perfected I'm missing some parts I've gained some perspective But nothing will guard Your heart like directions
