What is stopping those that are awake from just even placarding the white house and Congress en masse to protest..we are watching TV and having hairdos while they murder us and our children!!!

What's stopping them is that life is still good enough. People start protesting en masse only when they go hungry.
Unfortunately, that would mean the rest of us going hungry as well. So waiting for such a complete collapse isn't necessarily the desired outcome.
