Several years ago, when I worked for the Gubment, I received an email say the EBT system in Baton rouge La. shut down for 6 hours on a Saturday, Well let me tell you folks, rioting started almost as soon as the first cards failed.Looting occured in Walmarts, Aldi's and Target, just to name a few, I said then, this is a trial run for the future to create havoc. Here we go folks!
I remember this, and it was a riot! Sadly I expected this behavior over formula but it seems people are more concerned with Doritos and hohos

According to the video the person posted below, it sounds like walmart decided to say "no limit" on the ebt card, otherwise no one could buy anything. So the craziness began. It was not looting and rioting (according to the video). But, when the cards turned back on, people abandoned their carts abd left a mess.
But, you were there... I was not. So I appreciate what you described.
My question is: do you think it was walmart's policy in the moment, or the outage that caused the panic buying?
And, maybe the threat of looting was what prompted the "no limit" policy?
