What is this thread all about?
Just a place for general discussion. A place to unload whats on your mind and talk about anything - personal, health, help needed, achievements, daily highs and daily lows, theories, predictions and what have you.
Does not need to be Q related.
It stinks to have to wait for the grass to dry enough to mow it (from dew, right now) and by then it's almost too hot to actually mow. We've gotten quite a bit of rain lately and it has to be done before it rains again this weekend (and football season!). I love to mow and clean my yard. It's a constant work in progress.
I’m with you. I love doing yard work. Where are you, generally? Tampa here and it’s always a challenge this time of year. Grass is so wet sometimes but if you wait too long, it’s gonna get wetter. And hotter. But I have St Augustine grass and it doesn’t seem to mind getting cut when it’s a little wet.
I'm in central AL.
So it’s hot AND humid. Like us.
Since I've gotten into better shape and have more muscle mass, I sweat more easily and it runs into my eyes. Now I know what my husband deals with!
Yes, it is! Very much!
My husband has started cutting grass about 5 or 6. It’s cooler in the evening and sun isn’t as strong.
Our neighbors directly across the street cut down a HUGE oak that used to give shade for us, about that time of day, so I don't think that would work. :( I miss that tree!
I have actually been brought to tears over people cutting down tress for stupid reasons. Had a neighbor take down a tree (shaded a good part of my back yard) because it dropped seeds and leaves on their driveway. I love trees. This wasn't a pine it was a beautiful broad leaf
Theirs was messing up their water lines, I believe. We cut ours down because it constantly dropped limbs and was a huge risk during storms and wind. I agree with you, though, about cutting them down needlessly. We have 3 crape myrtles and I almost hate them, but I wouldn't cut them.
We don’t have shade where he cuts. Our tall pines were cut down almost twenty years ago. They aren’t missed! Pines snap with high winds, hurricanes & ice. Plus the mess they make. There’s plenty of woods around to enjoy the view. He cuts about three - four acres. Late in the day works for him. Our high today was 89 but with humidity it feels like 96. The temp starts dropping around five pm.
I grew up around pines. I don't miss them or their stinky needles! Mowing a hill in direct sun sucks!
