Yeah a few confirmations of this posted on social media. Perplexing. My read is that there is deep division in the Dem party, deeper than we know. There is a faction that does NOT want to go down with the ship, They are savvy enough to see mistakes as they unfold and do damage control. They don't answer to Susan Rice or Avril Haines or Lisa Monaco. So they can lean in to block an unforced error like the Hidey Death to All MAGA speech, which they hope will protect themselves and other lower Dems from the blowback this will create.
Or, they could have seen this to be a crashing bore of embarrassing emotional fluff and tendentious pseudo-truisms, guaranteed to dispel an audience faster than a 6-year-old puking on the floor.
