For you kids out there, ‘Jumped the Shark’ Is a reference to the TV show Happy Days when Greaser Fonzi jumped the shark tank basically signaling that the writers were out of ideas and the show was ultimately cancelled.
I wonder why that was so ill-received when we would watch the Dukes of Hazzard make a jump at least every week that would total any car out there and then just speed off. They were both equally unbelievable.
Because Fonzi jumping a shark tank on water skis had nothing to do with the lives of the mild-mannered Cunningham family and their son's teenage friends in Milwaukee in the 1950s and 60s, which was what the show was supposed to be about. The storyline of this episode was so contrived, it was ridiculous. The Dukes of Hazzard's exaggerated stunts, on the other hand, were consistent with the show's tone and premise.
That's true. A good observation. Different audience expectations. I liked both Happy Days ( never saw the jump the shark episode), and the Dukes of Hazzard, but I'm well rounded like that.
Long live the "General Lee" hehehe
Truth is, I don't think we cared as much what the General Lee jumped cos Daisy Dukes.
I read that they went through over 250 chargers with all the stunts in that series. There outta be a law against that
Yes for sure. Although when the show was shot, they were not yet classics but still, you're right.
According to what I've read, those jumps did total the car(s). They ran through a lot of Dodge Charges filming that show.
