Only if they think they can turn it on Trump somehow.

I am thinking it may become actionable or something of the like if they let it expire so they would be banking on WWIII / hot civil war burning everything down that it would all get brushed under the rug somehow. They probably are ready to go full hunger games on us hence Gaga's inauguration attire.
