My parents did this to me. At holidays I had to let family members who were basically strangers hug and kiss me when I didn't want them to. It did lead me to think I didn't have autonomy over my own body regarding touching (so long as my parents endorsed it).
Me too. I still remember it. I hated it. Old ladies, aunts and uncles, neighbors and friends always wanted to give me big, long kisses on the mouth, pinch me, tweak my nose, rub my head, tickle me to the point of discomfort or crying, etc. Ugh!
I also hated when Mom made us run to the door when Dad got home from work. We all had to kiss him on the mouth. I didn't want to and would hide under the kitchen table. I refused to kiss any adult male relative for many years. I would kiss my mommy, but that was it! (Dad worked a lot of hours and I didn't have much interaction with him and he always felt like a stranger...) However, I was intensely boy crazy as a little girl and in first grade would sit too close and try to tickle the cute little boy in my class to the point of harassment. The teacher made me sit in the coat closet as punishment when I did this. Ha.
Anyway, I raised my two kids to have my permission to say, "NO!" My older brother was so angry when he was trying to force my son to hug and kiss him and I told him to back off. My kids are adults now and totally agree with that thinking.
