Kilometers per hour? Per second? Meters/feet per second is a common one. But 36720 KPS would be a weird way to say it.
For those who don't know, the speed of light in a vacuum is 299792 KPS, so 36720 KPS isn't especially cosmically fast but it isn't slow either. That'd be bad if it hit, naturally.
It's km per hour.
10% of light speed? Yeah, that would be insanely fast. At those speeds you'd be seeing all kinds of relativistic effects. Even the color of the asteroid would appear to change as it passes by because of Doppler shift. At this speed, a 1 kilogram object would have the energy of 10 Hiroshima bombs.
You're right, I was tired. That is fast. I flipped around KPS on the last one instead of KPH. I meant to say KPH wouldn't be cosmically fast because light speed's KPS.
I meant to emphasize that but I fucked up before bed. My bad!
