That right there is some very poor technical writing. And I should know, as I was a technical writer for many years in the science / engineering field. A unit of measure should always be readable and understandable. Maybe the rate the writer was going for was km/hr or mi/hr, but I suppose we'll never know, eh?

The fact that it happened twice, on the same day, regarding two different asteroids, and they are very precise regarding speeds, without putting a unit of measure, makes my spidey-senses tingle somewhat.
