Christianity was/is an open system, where the starting point is decidedly unattractive in that it emphasizes humans although endowed with natural dignity equally, are also naturally evil and opposed to God. that despite this God has provided the necessary availability for humans to resume communion with their creator of which they were originally made for. And that is nothing less nothing more than admitting one is a sinner, that one needs for and asks for forgiveness, without any contributions of one's own since the ticket price is too steep anyway, and trusting by the act of genuinely asking for this forgiveness God in abundant love and mercy promises to confirm and bestow that forgiveness. "For he who is forgiven much, loves much." No recipes, flaming hoops, acts of penance, secret keys of knowledge only available to the initiated, etc.
