I would say the decline began when Bob Iger took over as Disney CEO and the Golden Age was with Michael Eisner. Went to WDW since the year it opened until 2016. My husband bought me a Vacation Club membership because my daughter and I would go 3-4 times/year. Finally sold the membership in 2016 because the parks were not well maintained, the cast members as a whole were not interested in the guests, the food was crap, etc. Under Eisner, all the negatives and more were the opposite. Now, too, of course, after having read about Disney, I have no desire to bring our grandchildren.
I can't remember the exact date and don't care enough to look it up, but I bet it also has to do with ABC/ESPN coming onboard. That's a LOT of wokeness being added.

Just read that Eisner bought CapCities/ABC (ESPN within this) in 1995.
