Well, I didn't watch the rally so I don't know what prompted it, but just looking at the picture floating around, it appears to me to be a bunch of people holding up the #1 sign. Is it supposed to be something else? It also made me immediately think of people at concerts holding up bic lighters. Beyond that, I would say it's a stretch if people are calling it the heil hitler sign. In that sign all of their fingers are extended, not just one. Also, in the hh sign, the arms are generally extended forward at or slightly above shoulder level. This crowd was holding their arms up at a much higher degree. So if that is the controversy, there actually are significant differences. However, I know leftists can seize on anything (or make anything up) so I can understand some concern. But I would brush it off with the points I made here.
Trying to come up with an "acceptable " gesture response that everyone can adopt? A gesture that will be uniform rather than allowing for differences that occur when unique individuals react to something? Interesting. 😘
