I've been saying this all day and all yesterday! My very astute grandmother thought the same thing. And she's one of those people who will raise her hands and swing with the music at church.
It does follow the "glowie setup / media punchline" pattern we've seen countless times.
Also, like it or not, people will quickly imitate others in a crowd -- it's an innate quality of being in a crowd (mentally as well as physically) -- so it wouldn't take many instigators to get it going.
Real or not, I think we can do better as far as salutes go.
"Personally, I don't see why" what other people choose to do at a Trump rally, warrants using any of the very limited presents Gods giving you. Do their choices affect your freedom to do something else?
"If the truth sets us free, then that's all that's needed".
Perhaps. However, obviously people choose to do many things once they're " free".
For instance, some choose to post criticisms here; critcisms of people who are doing what they don't "need" to do.
For a "spontaneous" event, it's just a very small part of the crowd and almost all of them are pointing at the same angle. All the shots are zoomed in and close up. It looks like maybe less than a 100-150 out of a crowd of over 10,000 did it.
You'd think something that just "happened" would have some pointing up, some lazily pointing with a bend elbow, some would get tired before the others and just lower their hands. Other than 1 or two most keep to that specific angle. You see several of the finger pointers throw up both fingers, turn around and desperately try to get others to join.
99% of the crowd ignored the finger pointers. One lady behind Trump didn't even do the finger pointer. She straight up tried to do a nazi-like salute behind him and no one joined her.
I watched it a few times. I see a lot of "organic" versions of it in the crowd. Some seem self-aware and are intentionally relaxing their "salute" and/or their arms are getting tired. Some are holding up both hands, some are holding up an open hand without pointing up.
Nah, it doesn't look organic at all. It's a small crowd of about 50-100. All the shots of them are super zoomed in. They realize how small they are and try to turn around and get others to join. 99.5% of the Trump crowd were like "nah". The finger pointers couldn't get that many to join despite their best effort. The miserable lady behind Trump actually attempts a nazi-like salute. Man she looks miserable.
"It doesn't look organic" to you =/= its not organic and/or that its bad.
Perhaps, rather than fret, turn worries beyond your control over to God so you can return to focusing on what is within your control; you.
Many have found the Serenity Prayer, easily found online, to be helpful in turning distracting worries over to God. Hopefully, you will too.
Finally, please Let Trump be Trump. They are his rallies. If he has a problem with something happening at his rallies, he's a big boy. He'll handle it. No armchair helicopter parenting needed.

Personally, I don’t see why any type of salute is necessary. If the truth sets us free, then that’s all that is needed.
Symbolism matters too.

Smells glowie to me.

Definitely staged.
Pretty sure a few people doing it weren't "in on it", but yeah I agree it looks mostly staged.

Sus af and so is the Reddit style thought policing appearing around it to silence anyone questioning it. Highly sus.

Agreed. If it’s no big deal, then why go out of your way to defend it? Something smells rotten.
