I cant say what happened to you it only happened once to me and that was some 40 years ago. It was like a female presence in the room, I could see my room and knew she was there and it scared the crap out of me. Suddenly this thing I couldnt see started trying to push me off my bed. I fought and fought to come back to normal and finally did. Had to get up in the middle of the night turn all the lights on and have a coffee. It seemed that real. A week later my husbands cousin Cheryl who was staying with us killed herself with a gun I had under my bed while my kids and I were out at the mall. She was in my room when she committed suicide and fell right where that women I couldnt see was trying to push me out of bed. Never happened again.
Your brother's experience sounds a lot like a "night hag":
The night hag or old hag is the name given to a supernatural creature, commonly associated with the phenomenon of sleep paralysis. It is a phenomenon during which a person feels a presence of a supernatural malevolent being which immobilizes the person as if sitting on their chest or the foot of their bed.
Sleep paralysis is a state, during waking up or falling asleep, in which a person is aware but unable to move or speak.[1][2] During an episode, one may hallucinate (hear, feel, or see things that are not there), which often results in fear.[1] Episodes generally last less than a couple of minutes.[2] It may recur or occur as a single episode.[1]
The condition may occur in those who are otherwise healthy or those with narcolepsy, or it may run in families as a result of specific genetic changes.[2] The condition can be triggered by sleep deprivation, psychological stress, or abnormal sleep cycles.[2] The underlying mechanism is believed to involve a dysfunction in REM sleep.[2] Sleep paralysis is commonly experienced by lucid dreamers; some lucid dreamers use this as a method of having a lucid dream.[3] Diagnosis is based on a person's description.[2] Other conditions that can present similarly include narcolepsy, atonic seizure, and hypokalemic periodic paralysis.[2]
I had experienced sleep paralysis years ago when I was pregnant with my first child. I would hear ACDC music blaring really loud and the sound of someone coming up the stairs to our apartment. I could hear the floors creaking as the foot steps came into our bedroom and stopped next to the bed. I would be completely paralysed - unable to move or wake up. I remember this scenerio happening several times.
I've had it happen twice myself. It can be pretty scary. When it happened to me, I was in bed and woke up. I thought I was awake, as I could see the window across from me in the room, but I couldn't move or breathe. I could see a shadowy form on my chest, that was weighting me down. I had this feeling of dread come over me, like this thing was evil. The really scary part was not being able to breathe. In my mind I commanded the thing to leave me in the name of Jesus. Instantly, I was able to breathe again.
The funny thing is, many years after this happened to me, I was diagnosed with sleep apnea. I have to wonder now whether this was a beginning sign of it that I didn't recognize at the time.
I wonder if that was a soul that previously lived there? The music is interesting, do you remember the particular song? Pregnancy is already so crazy with a human growing and hormones on high. Did that entity visit you or your unborn child you think?
This is the classic sleep paralysis I've experienced, only the sounds I hear tend to be more of a crowd of voices so thick that I can't make out anything they are saying and the music I hear sounds old, like an old jazz bar from the 40's or something. And it all sounds like it's far away and the sound is drifting on the wind to me. Such a weird thing. I've had this happen only when I was sleeping on my side, not my back. So I think it's something to do with my ear pressing against the pillow, muffling sounds from the room fan, and my sleep paralysis brain filling in the rest. I hate the footsteps one though, and the actual feeling of being paralyzed. It's so terrifying.
I've read the same thing, as well. Your brain shuts down your movements while you sleep, otherwise you'd attempt to act out your dreams in real life. When this mechanism fails, you end up with sleep-walkers or sleep paralysis.
I’ve (luckily) never experienced hallucinations like that in any of my sleep paralysis episodes, but damn if being unable to move or say anything is terrifying.
I think you hit the nail on the head with sleep paralysis. I cant run from people in dreams and im also usually naked and sometimes have the teeth dream where my teeth fall out!
I had a strange experience from a nightmare six yrs ago in September; it was the worst nightmare of my life! I woke up completely terrorized and shaking. I have never felt fear like that and was still afraid even after waking up. The only thing I remembered upon waking was that I was trying to stay hidden but a man came up behind me and whispered two words in my ear - the words sounded exactly the same - in a language that I didn't understand. The man coming up behind me scared me so badly that I woke up! I told my husband about my nightmare in the morning, and he laughed and said aliens were chasing me. Then an hour later I got a phone call from the office (where I had been the manager). One of the partners had committed suicide at the office and was found by the other partner upon arriving at work. (The two partners had been indicted for fraud the week before), The suicide would have happened around the time of my dream. This person was from India and was a Brahmin; he often spoke in Punjabi to the other partner. (Brahmins are designated as the priestly class in India). I had told the other partner's wife about my dream and she said she too had woken up just screaming from a nightmare around the same time but couldn't remember what she was dreaming about that caused her to scream. The death was ruled as a suicide when the video cameras showed no one else in the building at that time. This nightmare has perplexed me for years. I can no longer remember what the words sounded like and almost wish I could be hypnotised or something in order to remember the dream and what the words meant that were whispered to me.
Wow.. and to have another person correlate the nightmare with you at the same time. I am sorry to hear about the death of your colleague but did you suspect foul play was involved, besides fraud? The bad guys like to clean up lose ends and maybe the universe was showing you the truth. I dont know much about dreams and nightmares but I am convinced that we commmunicate with higher powers when necessary. Thank you for sharing and I pray you find the answers regarding the words mentioned in your dream. They will pop into your head one day and you will say AHAH and look into it more for the final piece of closure needed. I declare it for you.
I had worked there in upper management for about 8 years prior to the indictments but quit right after all of this started coming out. To this day, I still don't know who was good or bad there. There were unbelievable amounts of fraud, corruption, spying, you name it, coming from all sides. There was even a documentary produced about what happened there. So yes, foul play was suspected.
Wow talk about being close to the front lines. I hope you are healed from the incident and hey Im shooting you some positive energy to jog your memory for those words and their meaning to you.

My brother had an incident like this I think it was a ghost like lady who attacked him in his half asleep half awake state.
Jesus I am so sorry about the suicide, I hope you all have recovered from that and I pray for Cheryl's spirit and family.
Im not so sure this was the same but I definitely can feel a "presence" in some places. Thank you so much for your input!
