Yes...it gives me chills no matter how many times I hear it! π
If you ever have the chance to visit Italy, make sure your visit Fidenza...Verdi's hometown. There is an outdoor shopping plaza called Fidenza Village and the front of each store honors a Verdi opera! For example one store has an Egyptian facade like Aida!! So uniquely designed and beautiful!
How wonderful... I only play a few bars of Chopin by ear but I'm in awe of people who can create music with instruments. A God given gift!
I use my voice but mostly great American standards like Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, etc. My Mom studied voice for years in the hopes of singing opera professionally but contracted tuberculosis as a young woman and that blew her lungs.
We've been to Venice also and make sure you take a water taxi (vaporetta) to Murano & Burano, small islands nearby where Venetian Glass and Lace are created.
My dream is to visit Vienna and see the Spanish Riding School where magnificent Lipizzaner Stallions are taught dressage.
Ah, I was confused. From context, I thought "Nessun Dorma" was by Verdi, but it is by Puccini. No loss; Puccini is wonderful. My favorite from Verdi is "Va Pensiero," the chorus of the Hebrew slaves in "Nabucco." It so moved the public that when Verdi had died and his funeral cortege was making its way along the streets, the throng on the sidelines spontaneously and continuously sang that song in honor of Verdi all the length of its progress. It is truly a cri de coeur.
My favorite aria! Powerful! πΌπΆπ΅
Looks like we've got a few fellow classicalfags on GAW.

How amazing.
I've studied piano, classical guitar, electric guitar, and violin. I've still spent some time watching opera as well.
If I ever went to Europe; Fidenza, Venice, and Vienna would be top on my list.
I take it you must be a vocalist?

How touching! Can you imagine being there on the street to bid him farewell and hearing that! Truly, he was beloved!
No, I remembered incorrectly and I hang my head in shame...
