TDLR: At this time both the British Empire and the French Empires were controlled by the cabal, and they were supporting the Confederacy because it split the United States into 2, so it was easier to control, AND because they were benefitting from the slave labor employed by the South. Note that the descendants of the same British/French imperialists from the 1860s have switched names to globalists, and are presently heavily invested in CCP-controlled China that also uses slave labor to engineer mercantilist profits for them.

It is likely that the Russian czar understood that the British/French globalists were scheming to split Russia up the same way in order to take control (which they did actually initiate in 1889 after they assassinated him in 1881).
