I worked in the launch business when that happened. We couldn’t believe that he just sent satellites over there to get launched. An Air Force officer from our squadron was sent over to accompany the first satellite launched by a Chinese rocket, and he had to go to the launch site partway on a water buffalo. He got to the launch site the first time and people were still digging out the flame bucket, with shovels!
Then when we apparently “accidentally” divulged data that enabled them to figure out how to calculate the trajectory that could also be used for an ICBM?
Yep, we just gave it all to them, while pretending to keep our data safe.
