In the "olden days" pre-9/11 an easy way to get a gun thru the metal detectors was to carry a Super Big Gulp drink with you and put the gun in the cup. When you went thru the guard would tell you to put your drink down on the table, walk thru, then take a drink. They never looked in the cup. That is one of the reasons TSA doesn't allow you to take drinks thru anymore (well that and they are assholes).
