Another "I'm Special" moment, because I THINK God speaks directly to me. NOBODY is receiving SPECIAL communication from God. He has provided us ALL we need to know.
2 Pet 1:3, "as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue."
Where do we find the 'knowledge of Him'? In His Word, the Bible.
If you believe the Bible is God's infallible and inerrant Word, then that is standard that you compare everything to.
In Hebrews 1:1-2 it says, ' 1 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;'
God speaks to everyone through creation, Romans 1:18-24, " For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who [d]suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things."
God has revealed Himself through general revelation, creation, and through special revelation, His Word. There is no more revelation. The cannon has been closed since 94 A.D. with the completion of the last book of the Bible.
Sir, you are telling me you do not pray. O nly a fool would talk to a God he thought he could not hear.
The issue is whether a person is receiving dreams directly from God.
We are commanded to pray. So we pray. Jesus Himself gave us the model for prayer when He gave us the Lord’s Prayer.
God wants us to overcome our challenges, become better people, and return to live with Him after this life. But He doesn’t expect us to do it alone. He guides us through the Holy Ghost, scriptures, and prophets. A prophet is someone who has been called by God to give guidance to the entire world. From Abraham and Moses to living prophets today, God follows a pattern of guiding His children through prophets.
“Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.”—Amos 3:7
While God’s commandments never change, the world we live in is always changing. Different periods of time have each brought new circumstances and unique challenges. Prophets receive direction from God to help people navigate challenges and situations.
Today we are surely going through unique challenges. GOD is leading this movement and he is using as many people as he needs to communicate to all the children of the WORLD.
Worthy? God is no respecter of persons. It's humility that makes the difference. Our worthiness is only by way of Christ perfect redeeming works. Not our own lest any man should boast.
God talks to those with holy spirit who are willing to listen.
You must have skipped over Acts 2:17/Joel 2 or forgotten it? Now, I have no idea if this man really heard from God or whatever, but I do know that scripture hasn't been fulfilled fully yet.
I always get a kick out of people saying "all the signs in the Bible are there, Jesus can come back tomorrow", when they literally haven't read this scripture or several others about a pure Bride. Many haven't been fulfilled. It's the same reason why 200 years ago people thought he could come back any second. 🙄
We are coming into the best days of His Church.
Yes indeed. Both of those scriptures were partially fulfilled during the initial formation of the church on the day of Pentecost, mostly associated with Peter, who saw visions. There were also instances of people seeing visions in the OT, however they were rare. The remainder of the visions will be fulfilled during the tribulation period as stated in Joel 2:28-32, after The Church has been removed.
Ok, so a single man saw visions and this scripture was fulfilled? And then the church is going to be removed before the rest are fulfilled?
Where does it say the church is removed before this will happen? What use/purpose would it even have if the church was removed? It's pretty clear that the church in Acts only received a small glimpse of the power that we were supposed to carry and is evidence in the Bible that we would carry.
“In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.” Acts 2:17
Then what is word of knowledge and Word of wisdom and being taught in all things by the holy spirit.
Hope you aren't missing out on God's still small voice.
Good question. The gifts of ‘a word of knowledge’ and ‘a word of wisdom’ are considered part of the gifts that have ceased with the Apostolic age. Peter for example was given Knowledge about Ananias and Saphira when they held back a portion of money on a piece of property they had sold. This Knowledge was given to Peter.
As for the Holy Spirit’s Teaching, He is active in teaching God’s Word through illumination, meaning the more of God’s word you read and meditate on, the clearer and more understandable it becomes.
The Holy Spirit also helps us to discern false prophets. How does He do that? By giving us discernment to compare what Scripture says with what someone who claims to be speaking for God says. If the two line up, then the person is speaking truth. If however they don’t line up, then the person is not speaking the truth.
Unfortunately, there is a huge lack of discernment when it comes to Biblical Christianity, as in what the Bible (God’s inerrant, infallible Word) says.
