I don't know how 401K works, but do they let you liquidate? Out here you can't, but atleast I could put my super (retirement fund) into all cash.
You should share your insights with the community.
Yes, I’m very interested in knowing how to liquidate a 401K. Please share your knowledge.
I was leaving ML and I did NOT want them to use the 401k money...I was in the ML Mutual Funds dept and was doing the programming...A couple of us starting seeing anomalies in how ML was doing "shavings"...which is:
They would take the stock market as high as possible for the Mutual Funds for awhile and then drop it to JUST below the TOP where they would shave off what was earned + a lil' more of principal...WHICH IS HIGHLY ILLEGAL
There was a group of us that got out and went somewhere else and people from ML were calling us as too where to find jobs. So when we, we moved everything from ML to Fidelity and then somewhere else that was smaller...Never did business with ANY OF THE BIG BOYS EVER AGAIN...
I hope you understand what I said above BUT notifying any of the authorities at the time would not have done any good...THEY WERE IN ON IT!!!
I have been retired for the last 5 years and glad I got out when I did...
I think I get it. Thank you!
You can roll it over to a checkbook IRA and have quite extensive control over it there.
You need a couple k to setup a checkbook IRA though.
