Libertarian seems to be diametrically opposed to what Democrats push. That's a weird situation.
Republicans tend to be more restrictive on 'personal rights', LGBT, Drug use, and other issues than Libertarians, and many lean toward the left. However, Libertarians have begun to realize that the DNC is more statist than the RNC by far on economic issues.
All the "do as you want" aspects of libertarians would probably come to a screeching halt if the leftists gain enough control. Republicans would usually allow the citizenry to vote on such things, but if leftists get full, iron-fisted control (which they seem to desire), only they will be making any decisions. Of course, the leftists might decide it's best to keep the citizens in a drug-induced stupor, so perhaps they would gladly submit to the libertarian desires, even supplying the drugs. As a conservative, I'm not for the harsh criminalization of hard drugs, but the damage to society caused by those drugs indicates they should be illegal, and the dealers DEFINITELY should be subject to stiff prison sentences, because they prey on the depravity of the drug users.
That's true, especially among the "don't infringe on anyone's rights at any time". They would likely view it as a 'prevent aggression' or 'give aggression its natural reward types'. What applies to drug pushers applies to those who aggress on other's rights.

The second link is especially pertinent to the discussion here, in relation to not harming others by your actions.
