Not all. Some countries kept their own currency inside country. Like Germany. They still have the Deutsche Mark besides the Euro. Along with a few others as well.
Late fiancee was deutsche, she never talked about marks, only euros. In fact the only member I know of that kept their previous currency was the UK, and they "left".
