Russia used to be a super powerful country whose armies needed to be kept in check by joining together the military might of thirty countries who all contributed 2% of their GDP to the effort.
Now an ex-comedian with no military training can defeat them in weeks with a single, small army. It's a pity we did not employ him in the first place, just think of the money we could have saved: 2% of GDP for over 70 years. I wonder what the MIC actually did with all that money?
I feel quite sure that Russia could end the war quite quickly if it wanted to. Unlike Americans, Russians know what war is like when it comes to you. Think what things are like when the gas stations are not stocked for a couple of weeks, or the super markets. Remember the panic?
Now try to imagine what it must have been like to endure empty shelves for 900 days. Should we eat Cody or Fluffy? Grandma died last week and we have not had meat for two years.
That is why they get so paranoid about NATO moving to their border. I am guessing but that could be why they do not want to do that to anyone else. The American way is to flatten and kill everything in site but not everyone thinks the same way.

They barely lifted a finger. Ukraine is their backyard and they have been planning for all contingencies for years and they have very good intel.

It’s not believing the propaganda, it’s using common sense. Russia v Ukraine is like the USA v Canada. The armies, technologies, and resources are so mismatched it’s laughable. The USA, Russia, and China have the ability to send virtually any other country back into the Stone Age. There are good reasons why they wouldn’t do it, even during war, but they can.
