Think about it from a psy-op perspective. If you're trying to wake-up a nation and trigger a 'great awakening' and you are going to do something as radical as to create a movie where there is a literal the-ski-is-falling/'precepice' moment being shown to the public, one where the EBS plays a DEFCON1 scenario, you're not just going to do that without conducting a localized simulation (like a localized ebs defcon moment in Hawaii) to gauge the public's reaction, see what sort of chaos arises so they can better plan for the real thing.

I arrived in Kona just after the scare was winding down. I went to a restaurant on arrival and the staff was off of their game bad and the service was not what I expected from the restaurant I had visited on prior trips to the big island. The host came to check on us as we neared the end of our meal. I mentioned that I had not received anything to drink and that our order was missing two additional items. She insisted on comping the meal. But that I should understand that my waitress had spent time this day deciding which one of her children she would spend the final moments of their lives with. Man I felt foolish for even saying anything.So I gave the waitress the total amount of the ticket plus the tip . I have wondered ever since then about this woman and her Sophie’s choice.

My son’s best friend (16) was living in Hawaii when the missile scare happened. He was home with his mom, dad, brothers and sister. They were huddled together crying believing it was the end. Shocking but no lasting harm.
