This was a franchise location and the decision of a single manager. From what I have read in local media the franchise owner has reached out to try and make it right.
This need to be the top comment IMO. I can't imagine there aren't other franchise owners who are still working with mentally disabled individuals & boycotting Wendy's all together is just hurting the local great business owners.
Sure, I could get behind never shopping with this franchise owner/the store the manager for firing them the way they did. Though this should be store /area specific as needed. I haven't dug into this, but the most likely scenario is that a new manager fired this guy & the franchise owner had no idea. The franchise owner having them work for 22 years is unlikely to let an employee like this go without informing the family about issues that have come up that can't be resolved in the store.
Agreed, boycotting the COMPANY because of one retarded manager (how ironic, easily dumber than the guy they fired) is just dumb.
Also, how the family handled it is annoying...I'm sure if he can work it can be explained to him that he didn't do anything wrong but sometimes shit happens, as it is his "early retirement" is going to leave him without his routine etc. They should have explained the real world some instead of basically doing what the manager in question did....
