Wow...
I'd like to introduce you to the concept of "mutual exclusion"
Believing that life forms change over time in response to environmental pressures according to which survived best and produced the most offspring is not mutually exclusive to being a bleeding heart liberal.
"Believing in evolution", like understanding why it only took 12 generations for tuskless elephant to evolve in response to poaching, doesn't mean you want to kill well people or shut down hospitals.
It's almost like "belief" in evolution is a description of ongoing phenomenon that you can watch in real time and is the reason you get sick from new strains of viruses and bacteria.
I don't know why you think God is stupid. Why the hell do you think he would develop static and unchanging life?
God is not stupid, he wouldn't invent something that can't adapt to change and fails altogether when the environment changes to much.
God's supposed to be the best engineer and you think that he would make life and not give it the ability to adapt to change.
