THIS. I switched from Gmail and it was one of the most time-consuming and tedious things I've ever done. It took over two years and I'm still not confident enough to delete it. I wouldn't expect any but the most dedicated to suffer the switch. BUT WE NEED TO. (And YouTube still has a huge stranglehold on the video market. I don't think we have a viable alternative yet.)
Who did you switch to? It seems like there are so many 'better' options at the time, but they turn out to be no better than what we switched over from after a while (e.g. duckduckgo, Brave, Telegram, etc)

I have a Proton Mail account but don't use it.
I switched to proton. I'm not arguing its some bastion of free speech, I just ended up there.
I think they key is getting away from an "all-in-one" provider like google or apple. They don't need an angle on every aspect of my life.
