I agree with what some people are saying about how just because you go to Church, it doesn't mean you're a Christian. But we need to look at this objectively.
This is part of the Great Awakening. I and many others have been saying all along that the religious Christian revival aspects of the Great Awakening have been kicking it into overdrive in the past few years, and this is just more proof of that.
Like OP and u/RandomNumber pointed out, this is but one metric of measurement and it's a relatively good one. If in person Church attendance and religious conversions have jumped this much in the past few years, then how much has the actual percentage jumped if you include the people who don't go to Churches in person because of moral standards (Can't find a church that's not full of sheeple), but instead found God and Worship through online Church Livestreams?
Christianity was never really on the decline in the USA, but now it's growth has been kicked into overdrive and it's undeniable to anyone who's paying attention that we're back on track to beat the "record high adherence %" of the 80s and 90s.
Post Great Awakening, I fully expect us to be a nation that's 85-90%+ Christian. Of course not EVERYONE will be super devout, but with adherence numbers that high, you can expect a massive number of devout believers.
