JP Morgan funded his early work. Tesla was working on a clean wireless energy system that could power everything. He needed more money to keep working on the project. He asked JP Morgan for more money and was turned down.
JP Morgan saw his invention as a threat since he controlled so much energy production and transportation of coal. JP even went out and warned all the wealthy families in America to not help Tesla in anyway.
Tesla screwed up by telling JP too much. He should have lied and said it was for something else that they could sell. JP ruined Tesla and who knows what other inventions he would have come up with, if he had proper funding.
Also, it's crazy to think that if his clean, renewable, wireless energy system worked, where would we be today?
White quickly got to work designing Wardenclyffe Tower in 1901, but soon after construction began it became apparent that Tesla was going to run out of money before it was finished. An appeal to Morgan for more money proved fruitless, and in the meantime investors were rushing to throw their money behind Marconi. In December 1901, Marconi successfully sent a signal from England to Newfoundland. Tesla grumbled that the Italian was using 17 of his patents, but litigation eventually favored Marconi and the commercial damage was done.
JP Morgan refused to fund Nikola Tesla too. Deja Vu.

That's why people that develop alternate means of power get killed.
I believe itvwas Westinghouse who cut him off. Westinghouse made copper wire asxwel as bulbs. Wireless wasn't something he wanted.
