Yup, I recently just got rid of my Mercedes Benz, last winter during the pathetic house arrests (lockdowns) I hadn't used it for about 1 week. I open the trunk (boot) to find the whole lot destroyed, with a big hole in the inner lining of the wing.
So I called the insurance company to tell them, he said "err have you looked in the engine compartment sir" - I hadn't, but I did when on the phone and there was carnage, with rat shit everywhere!
He explained that Mercedes Benz use a soy product to coat the air con wiring, and rats love it! Then once inside they go to town on anything they fancy.
All in the name of muh climate change you understand.

Did your insurance company pay out?
Yes eventually, it took about 3 months to fix it all though, no spares due to the coof was the oft used cry from the dealership!
