I check the Intel Slava Z Telegram page occasionally to compare to mainstream news. It is reporting the Iranian kamikaze drones are being used by Russia. Even had a pic of one in flight.

My first impression is they must be relatively cheap, and it lets Russia keep the expensive stuff you reference in reserve. And, given that Ukraine no longer had an Air Force, these drones can be very effective. Did a quick search, the Iranian drones are cheap and plentiful.
