So, how does this work downstream? Let's say they vote to make it mandatory... that's a recommendation, right? They don't have authority to impose it.
Then HHS will implement a policy to enforce it, right?
And any school that does not enforce it risks losing its federal funding, right?
Am I right, in general, or am I missing something?
So, which local official will stand upto the loss of federal funding?
That is why we needed to get onto school boards everywhere.
I don't know for sure, but I think it would go to State laws. Currently most states adopt the CDC's schedule (just my guess).

I remember our school district was going to do optional masking, but ended up going with masks once they felt the pressure from the state government. They fell like a cheap toupee in a windstorm
Sadly, almost everyone caves to the threat of loss of money. School systems would collapse without the federal funding. Or, at least it will place a huge strain on them... and the community will need to pay more local taxes to wean itself off federal money.
I think our district gets like 5% of its budget from the federal government, I wonder how that cost would break down for residents. Many here would increase costs for more freedom.
