Peter certainly was and Jesus told him how it would be:
Luke 22:31-32 “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and** when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren**.”
Jesus prayed not that the devil be bound - BUT that Peter's faith should not fail.**
Matthew 8:24-26 "And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep. And they went and woke him, saying, "Save us, Lord; we are perishing." And he said to them, "Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?" Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm."
I was just wondering if the apostles were dooming seeing Christ on the cross.

A very astute question. And the post below is a wonderful reply.
Not on the cross but in the storm...
The apostles (except John) ran away from the shame of the Cross. They even hid in the upper room for fear of the Jews.
The unnamed apostles whom the resurrected Jesus met on the way to Emmaus certainly had heavy hearts.
